Community Council BudgetThe funds to support the activities of the Council come entirely from the community council element of the council tax. There is no additional central funding for community councils. For Llantysilio the charge this year is £17.11 per year for a band D house. This gives Llantysilio Community Council a budget of £3,250 for 2003/2004.Within Denbighshire our Community charge compares with a low of £4.52 and a high of £39.75 per year for a band D house with annual budgets for other communities of between £1,014 and £330,000. Recent Community Council ActivitiesChildrens Play Equipment – Llidiart AnneFor a number of years we have been looking for a means to replace the playground equipment at Llidiat Anne, remove for safety reasons. Denbighshire County Council finally found funds to undertake the work, the design of the playground being a proposal put forward by the Youth Club. It is hoped that the new playground will be a huge asset to the community. community.Community Council Notice Boards. The council has obtained funding for the provision of up to six public notice boards at various locations around the community. The total project cost is £12,500.00 but thanks to the funding from Cadwyn Clwyd the cost to the Community will be minimal. The six notice boards, as well as providing space for local notices will also display fixed tourist information in the form of historical and environmental details and local mapping.Payphone at PentredwrWe have been able to delay by twelve months BT’s proposal to remove the payphone at Pentredwr. Low usage and the use of mobile phones have been cited by BT as the reason for wanting to remove the phone box.The Millennium PlaqueWe hope to have the slate plinth and plaque installed sometime in the near future.BT BroadbandThe Council is keen to see this available at the Llangollen exchange. Please check out the BT web site at www.bt.com/broadband/ and indicate your interest. The more requests for the service the more chance of it being provided.Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) Outreach ProjectThe CAB came to the Conquering Hero Community Centre on a number of days. This local access to advice was a huge success and will hopefully be repeated.Small Towns and Villages Initiative (STVI)We now have Councillors Mrs D. Arnold and B. Potter representing the Council on the STVI. This could prove to be very important, as the STVI can be the first step in obtaining necessary grant funding for future projects.Police SurgeryTo improve contacts with the community the local police held a very successful a Police Surgery at the Conquering Hero Community Centre in September 2002.Planning Applications and HighwaysWe have dealt with numerous Planning Applications, providing local knowledge to the planning officers. We have also dealt with numerous highway problems, some of which are still ongoing. Flooding at Pentredwr has been an ongoing problem for some time and hopefully with the new bridges and stream culvert this serious problem is on the way to being resolved. The last 12 months has seen the funding of building materials to enable David Shiel, Countryside Warden, to repair a wet section of the footpath at the Horseshoe Falls.Other services which the Council provides: -
